It has been proposed to my husband who has IPF, to have all metallic fillings removed from his mouth as a process for “cleansing” the body of toxic materials and improving his immune system.

Would this be something you would recommend for an IPF patient? His coughing is persistent and he would have a difficult time in a dentist chair without coughing pretty consistently.

Maybe it is too late to pursue this–he is 76 years old.

  2. HI, just looking for a cleaning and a CLEANING ONLY!
    Can you do thi/price? thanks

    • Unfortunately all us states require an exam and X-rays before cleanings. It may be a way for dental boards to control everything. I wish it were different as a cleaning is relatively harmless. You’d be hard pressed to find a licensed dental office to just do a cleaning only.

      • Hi,
Just had an upsetting experience at my dentist of 10 years this morning when they refused to clean my teeth because I refused having radiation shot into my face. My concern is with brain tumors as well as dementia which runs in my family. I did have a set of xrays in 2012 and had to deal with the full court press every time I went in for a cleaning since. I would be willing to do an xray if I was experiencing a problem but to make it a condition of a simple cleaning did not seem acceptable. I am looking for a new dentist and am willing to sign a release of liability waiver for postponing xrays. How about your practice doc?
