Because there was a need for alternative, holistic dentistry, Dr. Marvin – a qualified and experienced licensed dentist – was drawn to helping people achieve health through dentistry.

Not unlike the medical counterparts, dentistry is very traditional. It is founded on the basis that disease is unhealthy and treatments are needed to combat the problem or at least stop its progression.

Dr. Marvin for years have treated others using this typical belief.

However, not until Dr. Marvin himself became holistic did he realize and understand a more holistic approach to dentistry and wellness in general.

In 2008, Dr. Marvin looked for a dentist who was holistic and provided the type of services he desired… safe mercury removal, aggressive non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical gum therapies, and use of biocompatible dental materials. To his dismay, he did not find any to his liking.

That’s how Dr. Marvin’s entrepreneurial spirit drove him into envisioning a dental practice focused on natural, holistic dentistry.

In January 2009, the Center For Natural Dentistry opened to served the people in Encinitas and the surround areas including San Diego county.

Why Encinitas, San Diego, California?

Quite simply, Encinitas is home to many holistic families and health practitioners.

“I wanted to be where there’s a greater population that need this type of dentistry… with a caring touch of course.” Dr. Marvin says.

What exactly is holistic dentistry

Holistic dentistry is the practice when a dentist takes into consideration the cause-and-effect
relationship
between a patient’s oral health and the health of the rest of
the body.

By improving the body’s ability to break down and eliminate the microbes through
improved wellness, good hygiene practices and the use of supplements, herbs and
homeopathic medicines, the patient can avoid a constant cycle of disease
progression and treatment.

Also , through treating the whole patient, rather than an isolated symptom, through the use of
natural, safe and painless methods you can have the accurate X-rays
you need without exposure to high doses of dangerous radiation and alternatives to those old-fashioned, metallic-colored, potentially
toxic mercury fillings.

Disease Prevention Starts With Detoxification First

I was reading a post on how a guy lost all of his articles.

“I like having a small library of articles
touching on how “only the body heals itself” and disease prevention
through whole food nutrition.”

I feel sorry for this guy because it has taken me many years to get my collection of information.  I think you should start doing the same.

I like how he states that “only the body heals itself” and disease prevention through whole food nutrition.

This is a great idea if you are a parent and start a child at a very early age (as we are doing with our children) but for most adults, we are already poisoned.

Take mercury fillings for instance.  My wife had a silver toxic filling placed in her mouth by yours truly while I was in dental school.  (Thanks Rhea for being my patient.  By being my patient, she helped me pass boards!)  Anyway… we soon after replaced the filling about 1 yr later with a porcelain inlay.

Well recently, Rhea has been going through this cleanse and visited a group of alternative medicine specialists in San Diego.  What she found out was that she had mercury toxicity.  And to think she only had one mercury filling in her mouth for only 2 years.  (she’s never had one before I ruined her.)

Now she has to go through a desensitization protocol so that she can eliminate the toxins.

Imagine the levels of toxicity if you had more than one of these fillings for more than 2 years?

Pretty sickening isn’t it?

Well… though this guy at the beginning of this post believes that nutrition is great for disease prevention, I think it is just as important to go through a detoxification/desensitization procedure first.

As a San Diego Dentist, I feel it is just as important to get the word out about holistic dentistry and mercury filling removal.  Nutrition is indeed important but not necessarily the first step.

What is Holistic Dentistry?
Holistic Dentistry is a field of dentistry where the dental practitioner looks at the health of your “whole” body and it’s relationship with your oral cavity.  In essence, holistic dentistry is more comprehensive and complete than traditional dentistry.
The holistic dental practitioner uses techniques, materials, methods, and processes that are both safe and compatible with the mouth and the body.  The dentist invests a tremendous amounts of time in educating themselves and their patients about this ever-important mouth/body connection.  He also becomes an integral part of the patient’s overall wellness team.

“I used to hate going to the dentist.  Not anymore.  Now I love it.  The staff here is very helpful and caring.  They explain everything to me.  I feel like they’ve helped me a lot.”
Sheri V. San Diego, Ca

“To look at the mouth is to look at the rest of the body.  To view the body, you must not omit the mouth.”
